Fall Themed Cakesmash Session in the Studio
When this little one's mommy reached out to me to plan her one year cakesmash session in my Attleboro studio, she told me she LOVES all things fall. She also let me know that Little Miss will be wearing a burgundy romper and then as far as the backdrop I could use my imagination! It was so fun to plan and put together her session. I spent a few days painting pumpkins to match the fall colors and picking out just the perfect flowers and lights. It all came together beautifully with the naked cake from Sweet Stuff Bake Shop in Norton!
When my new little friend came into the studio I knew all of the planning for burgundy and golds was the PERFECT combination that matched her sweet red hair. We played in the studio for a bit to get her warmed up and she gave us some happy smiles! Her absolute favorite was when Mama sang, "Wheels on the bus."
When one year olds come in, it's important to know where they are at developmentally. Most will be in "stranger danger" mode and will not just hop down and start letting me photograph them right away. The flash of the lights will be new to them as well. It's important that we give them plenty of time to get warmed up to the new situation. We will play with some toys and I will get them used to the flashing of the lights before we ever start taking photos. This is one of the many reasons I only book one session per day and give plenty of time for baby to warm up to the space. There is no rush to hurry and get the photos because the next client is waiting. It is all about your little one, for as long as they need!
Then it was time for the cake! My new sweet friend let us know right away that cake just wasn't her thing. But that's OK! With lots of, "Wheels on the bus" and patience we still were able to capture some cute smiles.
