Let's talk tips for gradation photos! It's high school graduation weekend here for our Seniors at Attleboro High school! I'm so proud of these Seniors and all that they've been through to adapt and make the most out of their last year of high school. It was only a year ago that I was celebrating my own high school senior. All of the emotions: joy, excitement and a little sadness that high school is over and the graduate is about to embark on their own journey in life!
As a Mom and a photographer I wanted to document every moment of graduation and tell her story! Think of the way you take these graduation photos as telling your Seniors story too.
I know the camera's will be out this weekend and I can't wait to see all of the senior graduation photos so here are a few tips and tricks to getting some great photos...
Tip 1: Make sure your gown is wrinkle free! Wrinkles are extremely distracting in photos so taking the small step to make the gown look its best will elevate your photos! Don't wait until drop off to walk across the stage to take the cap and gown out of the bag!
So how to get those wrinkles out? Iron on LOW heat or hang gown in bathroom while showering to steam out wrinkles.
Tip #2: Photos using the gown as a prop. Unzip the gown to show off your cute outfit underneath or even take it off and drape it over your shoulder. This is fun to remember what the fashion was the year of graduation!
Tip #3: Play with the cap! Toss in the air, hold down at your side or even reach up with your back hand and pinch the brim. Insider info: did you know those caps are actually called "mortarboards?"
Make sure to also take photos of the tassel. The tassel was worth the hassle!"
Tip #4: Props!! I love props that show personality of your senior, what college the graduate has been accepted to or something that documents the year of graduation.
Tip #6: Take photos of the diploma with the graduate holding it and of the inside of the folio itself. It's a way to document an official document and it's part of the story. Plus, isn't getting that diploma what all these years was about!?
Tip #7: Last tip but to me the most important...take photos with your family! They are just as excited for the big day as the graduate! They are proud, emotional and excited. These photo's will be ones you will cherish years from now!
